The New Royals are Cincinnati's vintage funk band, channeling Aretha Franklin, the JB's, The Meters and more contemporary artists like Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. The nine-piece group formed in 2015 in the Queen City, the crucible of funk and home of Bootsy Collins, King Records and the earliest known funk produced by the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown. The New Royals bring sweat, soul and reverence back to the city where it all started over half a century ago.
